Poppicraft Challenge - I Can't Believe I Won

To say I am over the moon is the biggest understatement. Words like ecstatic, choked, and gobsmacked all spring to mind.

The challenge was to make a card showing an unusual use of ribbon & submit it to Poppicrafts blog to win 50 yards of ribbon.

I've rung everyone I know LOL!! I've even had my poor brother trying to navigate his way round the blogging world. Can you tell I've never won anything before!!

And I even managed to make some cards.

I read a tip a while ago and although it's pretty obvious I didn't always do it. The tip was, each time you have a commission card to make, always make more than one. You will most definately need the extra cards at some time.

So now when I make any card I always make more than one. It's so much quicker to have a little production line going although with these I got a little ahead of myself and had the blue ribbon on the pink card LOL!!
These minature nappies are so cute and the little baby sentiments brads from Poppicraft finish it off nicely.
The backing paper is Kay & Co and I love the cuttlebug baby sentiments embossing folder.

Second Award Today

This has definately been 'Feel Good Sunday'. I've been given the Arte Y Pico Award by Chris and I feel so honoured. The "Arte Y Pico" (Art & More) is given to bloggers who share their art and creativity making their contribution to the blogger world so as a very new blogger I'm over the moon.

I visit so many blogs and to restrict myself to 5 is very hard . . . . but the blogs I visit daily and find invaluable are Kerry, Janet, Katharina, Stacey and Debs keep up the good work girls.

Another PIF Thankyou

I got a lovely surprise yesterday morning via our new postman (who's winding me up at the moment by leaving the gate open LOL!!) in the form of a gorgeous PIF package from my new blogging pal Karen. I'm going to have so much fun with this, it's like a Dawn Bibby kit, all the thinking & colour matching has been done for me, all in lovely sunshine colours.

Creative Idea on Sunday

I've just come across this challenge blog . . . . I do so much blog hopping I'm not sure exactly how I came across it LOL!! I'm going to enter 2 cards which are further down on my blog but I'm going to move them up here so they can be easily found.

The theme is black & white so these 2 Pink Petticoat cards fit the bill.


I really enjoy these challenges and my list of challenge blogs is increasing daily !!

PIF Candy - Thankyou

A big thankyou to the lovely Chrissy Marie for my package of goodies which arrived this morning. I have my first Tilda images so can't wait to get those coloured. She's also sent me some fibres which I love & lots of other bits and pieces. I'll be putting up some PIF next week when the girls have gone back to school so check back, you might be lucky!!

OUCH !!!!!

I've been tagged 3 times !!! by my new blogging buddies Cass, Janet, and Stacey so now I have to tell you 7 random facts about myself. Now stay awake, I'll try to type quickly LOL!!

1. I met my husband after beating him at pool only to find out he was the pubs pool team captain . . . he still reckons he let me beat him just so we'd have something to tell the children.

2. I played competitive netball until a few years ago, after starting at the age of 8.

3. I was in a trampolining team 'West Yorkshire Supertramps' . . . . . . . . I'd forgotten I was so sporty pre-children LOL!!

4. I have a tattoo at the base of my back, 3 hearts, one for each of my daughters, connected with a swirly vine.

5. I have my belly button pierced . . . . . my daughters think they have a trendy mum . . . . my DH thinks I've lost my marbles.

6. My mum & my DH's parents are Irish & it's our favorite place to holiday although it rains every time we go.

7. I start a diet every Monday morning and by Wed I'm raiding the girls chocolate stash & by Friday night I've opened another bottle of red . . . . . . back to Monday morning . . . .

Poppicraft Challenge

I'm always popping in to the Poppicraft blog and to the shop site just to see what new ideas & goodies Michelle has. I've placed only one order so far but the customer service and delivery is excellent, the only trouble is the products are so yummy you have to be quick off the mark to get the new products especially the ribbon kits.

While browsing I noticed that the challenge was to create a card with an unusual use for ribbon and the prize is 50 yards of ribbon !! . . . not for me I thought. I'm fine following a sketch etc but something this creative was best left to the design teams LOL!!

So I felt disappointed and sorry for Michelle when I checked in today to find that only one person had entered to win this great prize . . . get your act together I thought . . . so I did LOL! and here's the result.






I've made the skirt from ribbon (the unusual use of ribbon part).

I've coloured the image using whispers & sakura pens & for the cake I've used pink 3D paint & stickles.



I've then decoupaged the top to cover where I've threaded the ribbon through (made holes with my eyelet tool)







I'm really pleased with the finished card & decided these challenges are good to get the creative juices flowing.

Challenge Card

I came across the My Paper World challenge on Janet's blog yesterday and thought I would have a go but I've done so many Pink Petticoat cards recently I wanted to do something different. The idea for this card came to me just as I was drifting off to sleep last night LOL!! I've had the minature cards for a couple of years and never got round to using them and the Cuddly Buddly images I bought just after Christmas when they had an offer on, i was thinking ahead to Fathers Day!!

This is the sketch we had to follow.



This morning I checked out the Papertake Weekly challenge and found that this card would also fit the bill there as well.

The challenge was to use either zig zags or scallops on your card or if you're feeling very adventurous you can use both !!
